Binod Shankar is a public figure who has built both a business brand and a personal brand.
He kicked off his career in industrial banking before stints with KPMG, Andersen and Ernst & Young. At Nakheel, the giant Dubai property developer, he rose rapidly to become Finance Director and helped raise the world’s largest convertible Islamic Bond. His last corporate position was as Executive Director at a listed asset manager.
Binod left a successful career to co-found and lead Genesis, a financial training company. As the Managing Director, he quickly built Genesis into a regional training powerhouse. Genesis was acquired by Kaplan, a US based global training & publishing company with annual revenue of USD 2 billion and 15,000 employees.
His first book “Let’s Get Real: 42 Tips for the Stuck Manager” has garnered favourable reviews. He is a regular guest on Bloomberg and CNBC where he talks about macroeconomics and equity markets.
Binod is a hiker, mountaineer and long-distance cyclist. He has summited thirteen mountains across Europe, Africa and Asia (including seven 5,000 + meter mountains and the highest peaks in Australasia, Africa and Europe) and his latest peak was Kangyatse 2 in Ladakh. He is a cyclist who has pedaled from Manali to Leh to Khardungla (463km), Pune to Goa (449km) and has wrapped up two Tours of Karnataka (520km each). He has also completed five half marathons and two full marathons.
Binod is a Chartered Accountant, a CFA charter holder and has obtained the Level 7 qualification in Coaching and Mentoring from ILM, the UK body.
